A temporary emergency leave of absence is available to students who are experiencing the serious illness or death of an immediate family member and desire to leave school as soon as possible for a short period of time.
To request a temporary emergency leave of absence, please follow the steps below:
- Students need to meet with the dean of students or his assistant to discuss their emergency situation and determine if it qualifies for an emergency leave of absence.
- Students must provide medical documentation backing up the reason for the emergency leave of absence.
- IWORK students need to obtain the travel request form from IWORK, get the proper signatures on it, and return it to the Dean of Students Office before departing for home.
- Students are required to pay for their own travel home and back to campus.
- A self-funded student does not need to fill out the IWORK form, but they do need to notify the Dean of Students Office of the dates they will be off campus.
- All international students will need to contact International Student Services (ISS) to get their travel documents in order so they can travel in and out of the country.
